Find the place you are rounding to, then look one place to the right: 5 or more rounds up, 4 or less stays. 30.675 to the nearest hundredth looks at the 5 and becomes 30.68.

Teaching tip

Have students underline the digit in the rounding place and circle the digit to its right. The circled digit decides.
